Dec. 8, God speaks to us - Brooke and Justin
16 lively kids showed up for our next to last meeting of the year(2004). We left the Old Testament to spend two weeks on the birth of Christ.
We discussed Zechariah and Elizabeth having John in their advanced age, Mary a pregnant, as yet unwed teen, facing the harsh law of the time and her courage in the face of the circumstances.
Jackson knew all of the bibles. Preparing the way for Jesus. An angel told Mary that she was going to have a baby, she thought he was incorrect. Mary didn’t cry, run, or scream. Elizabeth knew what was going on with Mary. Mary stayed with Elizabeth until she had the baby. If you didn’t have a family member with you in the city when you were pregnant, people could pick up rocks and throw them at you to kill you.
We did have the first questions as far as what to do in specific situations such as friends who cuss or lie to their parents. God speaks to us through our parents and in other ways to help us know right from wrong, and sometimes we don't know how to listen. But if we continue to try to listen and do what is right then we will be better people.
The cookies and drinks brought by the Arringtons were great

Dec. 1 - Michael Sheehy & Stephen Lowry
First, once everyone got to the Byers we started off with a prayer. Then some of the kids said as many books in the bible in the Old Testament as they could. Then we continued on talking about Noah's Ark.I can't believe it rained for 40 days and 40 nights! Then for a snack Lauren Cole brought rice crispy treats, cookies,lemonade, and even more good treats! It's was YUMMY! All of it was fun!
